Raised in rural Oklahoma, I have always had a love for wildlife and the American West. As a wildlife artist and an outdoorsman, I feel it’s important to portray the feeling of an animal’s presence in every piece, and try to speak without words as they do. I am a self-taught artist, like my parents who are both professional artists. I remember as a child I always loved drawing. I spent some time away from art to work in the veterinary field and have come back to it with more passion than I ever imagined. I use brushes and palette knives, along with a limited palette of oil paints on linen or textured panel, to create my work. I feel there are endless possibilities to be explored when painting animals in their element, be it big horn sheep in the Rockies or a green-winged teal in the marshes of Louisiana.
